Experience with an insect

Yellow spotted millipede This insect is called yellow-spotted millipede. I was watering the plants when,I found this insect on one of the plant stem. I saw it or notice it because of its colour , because it was in a green surrounding, the colour of this insect was getting highlighted. I pick it up on the stem and rotated to see the insect from close, it was very smooth and had a shine on it. Also every time I rotated the stem I observed that the insect climbed in the upper direction, no matter how you rotate it. Also because it has so many legs it is easy for the insect to balance, while climbing or if they are falling the back legs hold the stem and pulls it up.

Hercules of its own kind

Hercules beetle   Spring is one of the most beautiful season. sunny sun , soft winds, flowers bloom, you get to see lots of beautiful insects in this season, colourful bugs, butterfly's, beetles, etc.I personal like butterflies they're colourful different patterns, prints, sizes all different than other. I also like beetles... like the Hercules beetle my personal favourite. Well the name speaks for itself Hercules strong & powerful. It is a species of rhinoceros beetle & family scarabaeidae, commonly known as scarab beetles.   These beetles are the longest extant species in World & also one of the largest flying insect in the world.I really like how strong they look & are, infact they can carry upto 850 times its own weight. They also got this name because of their horns, these horns in male can be 5-7.5cm long sometimes even longer than their body. These beetles are found in tropical jungles & rainforest. And are black, brown, green, b...

Ticks Trouble

TICKS... Oo..This one I nicely remember, when my dog got ticks! It was such a task to remove those tiny Ticks from my dog fur. Those Ticks might be having a nice time there but me while removing those Ticks and my dog in all that pain while removing those ticks..nope, we weren't having fun at all. If you don't know what Ticks are......you can see the photo below, or well I'll just explain it. Ticks are parasites which sticks on other mammals, feed & live on them. if you're dog or any pet every got ticks, you know how hard it is to get it out from your pet. Well, if you don't know why it is so hard? Let me tell you... These ticks go from host to host. They get attached to your pets skin & insert their mouthpart ( hypostome)  in the skin to suck blood. To remain attached some of these ticks also leave a sticky substance on the skin of their host.  So when they attach & insert their mouthpart they also hold hair which makes it very hard to pull. 1st it is ...

Bumpy little tongue

Sandpaper like tongue  I am a cat person. I love cats, I love everything about them, except when they lick me. Other animals when they lick their tongue feels slimy, full with saliva. But when a cat licks their tongue feel rough. It's so rough that when they lick your skin it feels like someone is rubbing a sandpaper or a type of rough scrubbier on your skin. If you own a cat you might know what am talking about. If not let me tell you, Cats have tiny papillae (small bumps) on their tongue, which makes their tongue so rough. These papillae's are made up of keratin (protein) which helps in removing or entangling the knots in their fur, Cleaning the fur, even makes it soft.Cats are self cleaning animals. Most of their time if they are not sleeping, they be grooming themselves. It also plays an important role in hunting, helps to hold their prey, helps in picking up any small pieces they have missed. And also grooming afterwards to get rid of the scent to protect themselves from ...

Hydrophobic in Nature

Plants that repel Water Rainy season is indeed one of the best seasons, everything & everywhere is so green, so lively so pleasant. one such rainy day while I was seating in my window I saw this plant, when due to rain all plants were getting wet but this plant was repelling water.  Basically water just rolls down from its leaves, it doesn't make the plant wet at all! so I wondered why, I searched about it and got to know about plants which are hydrophobic in nature. Plants which have hydrophobic nature are plants that repel water. Theses types of plants have waxy surfaces which doesn't let the water stay on the leaves.  But if plants need water then why do they repel it?                                                        well it depends on the region where the plants are. A cactus is both in nature hydrophobic and hydrophilic...

Little things make huge differences

BIOMIMICRY..... This blog talks about biomimicry, what is biomimicry, how it is helpfull and more. But first let's start   with what is biomimicry? biomimicry adopts natures solutions and translates it in human engineering. but what does it mean? It sees / studies / understands how things work in nature. (Animals / trees / birds) not just the form or colour but, how it actually works . The function behind it , or why it is the way it is / why it works like that.. Biomimicry questions it all , it helps us understand things more clearly, and imitates it or uses it as an inspiration for Design. Theses little things, observations / understandings helped and inspired and made huge difference in world in the form of Good Design. One of the examples is the GECKO CLIMBING FEET which was inspired by a gecko feet these reptiles can scale on vertical walls and even hang upside down Because of there plump toes are covered in hundreds of microscopic bristles call...
