Sandpaper like tongue
I am a cat person. I love cats, I love everything about them, except when they lick me. Other animals when they lick their tongue feels slimy, full with saliva. But when a cat licks their tongue feel rough. It's so rough that when they lick your skin it feels like someone is rubbing a sandpaper or a type of rough scrubbier on your skin. If you own a cat you might know what am talking about. If not let me tell you, Cats have tiny papillae (small bumps) on their tongue, which makes their tongue so rough. These papillae's are made up of keratin (protein) which helps in removing or entangling the knots in their fur, Cleaning the fur, even makes it soft.Cats are self cleaning animals. Most of their time if they are not sleeping, they be grooming themselves.
It also plays an important role in hunting, helps to hold their prey, helps in picking up any small pieces they have missed. And also grooming afterwards to get rid of the scent to protect themselves from getting hurt. Now if you have ever given bath to a cat, you might have notice that no matter how much you try to wipe them dry, their fur is still wet but as they start licking themselves up their fur gets dry instantly so it also cleans up the water on their fur. This papillaes work like comb ,in fact can be said as an advance type of comb which not only Cleans when dry but also wet fur. Its like nature has given them a inbuilt, personal comb.
